Profile Details

Mr. Panhwar has a Masters degree in Sociology and has over 15 years of work experience in the development sector including institutional development, livelihood development, natural resource management and community development related programmes with NGOs, CBOs, national and international development agencies.


Mr. Panhwar is currently, heading Centre for Environment & Development (CEAD).

Previously he worked as Regional Program Manager, Karachi Region in The Agribusiness Project, Agribusiness Support Fund. Prior to this, he was working with WWF as Programme Coordinator, Indus for All Programme, at Karachi. He has worked for IUCN Pakistan in various capacities for eight years. He played vital role in development of Sindh State of Environment & Development (SoED) and Sindh Strategy for Sustainable Development.


He is a prolific writer and has written extensively on social, developmental and environmental issues and has compiled three books titled The Indus Flood 2010-Perspectives, Issues and Strategies, Sindh at the Crossroads of Disasters & Thar: A Mosaic of Miseries.  


As a volunteer, he is Founder General Secretary of Friends of Indus Forum, Council Member of Hisaar Foundation and Member General Body of Thardeep and the Founder Executive Director of Centre for Environment Development.
