Mrs. Mahmood is a UK certified Teacher and has spent 12 years teaching and training at multi ethnic and multi cultural higher secondary level in UK. She is settled in Lahore Pakistan with the vision of imparting quality teacher training at her institute, Qurban & Surraya Welfare trust. The trust aims at providing quality education at the lowest possible cost especially for women. She believes that nations whose women are educated are more competitive and more prosperous than nations where the education of women is forbidden or ignored. Empowering women can lead to active participation of educated women is essential to the spread of thriving civil societies, responsive and representative governments, coping with climate changes, and stabilizing economic growth.

 

Mrs. Mahmood is trustee of Qurban & Surraya Educational trust and works voluntarily with other institutions. She has presented many papers nationally and internationally and represented Pakistan at the Geneva IBE conference in September 2004. Mrs. Mahmood is General Secretary Pakistan Education Watch, Member Focus Pakistan, Member SPELT (society of Pakistan English language teachers), Member NATE UK (national association for teachers of English) & member IATEFL (International association of teachers of English as a foreign language). She has also written 2 books, teachers hand book and a teachers journal, few of her papers written and presented- 7 habits of highly effective teachers, what works for teachers, 101 teaching ideas, bringing books alive, teacher training in Qurban & Surraya educational trust, status of women in Pakistan, ICT in Qurban & Surraya Educational trust, Impact of teachers training on teachers and home grown leaders.

 

Her institution is the first educational institution in Lahore to install solar panels on a large scale. She spreads awareness about environmental issues in her local community and nationally and has been able to control the use of plastic bags in her community.
