Mr. Ismail has a Master degree in History from the University of Punjab. He also holds a degree in Education (B.Ed.). Education Planner and Manager by profession, Mr. Ismail has an extensive experience, national and international, in planning and managing education programmes focussing on quality and access. His experience ranges from institutionalization at grassroots to analysing and influencing education policy at the highest government level. Over time, he blended his experience with managing emergency and humanitarian response during natural and man-made disasters. His expertise in Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Risk Informed Programming are of added value.

He has worked with UNICEF in Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Kenya planning and managing disaster and post-disaster education response focussing on refugees, IDPs, returnees and the host communities.  The technical thematic areas that fall under his experience include Child Friendly Schools, Alternative and Catch-up Education, School Sanitation and Hygiene, Urban Sanitation and Solid Waste Management.

Mr. Ismail has worked for the government, non-government and the UN organizations for over 20 years and has an increased interest in economics which lies at the root of development, particularly when it comes to the national income and its distribution. He has recently settled in Canada and is currently studying economics at the University of Windsor.
