Profile Details

Dr. Saeed Ismail did his MBBS from Dow Medical College Karachi in 1983. He received his MCPS in paediatrics from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan in 1986. Besides being a child specialist, he has extensive experience in community health and development. He is the founder member of the Health and Nutrition Development Society (HANDS) , which is a registered, tax exempted, PCP Certified and European Union Accredited, Not for Profit Organization. HANDS is currently benefiting more than 13 million population of 16,703 villages in 13districts of Pakistan .It works in the sectors of health, education ,poverty alleviation and rural development with cross cutting programs of Social Mobilization, Gender, Human and Institutional Development and Disaster Management( Rescue, Relief and Rehabilitation). He was also actively involved in Baahn Beli an NGO from 1985 to 2005 which is a NGO working in the sectors of health, education and rural development. He is also actively involved in Baanhn Beli an NGO formed by an urban rural development alliance. Baanhn Beli exposes urban professionals to rural areas. It has multi-sector programs in health, education, water resource development and income generation in the remote areas of Tharparkar Desert. Dr. Saeed has conducted many workshops on primary health care and community mobilization for doctors, postgraduates, paramedics, community health workers, mothers and various NGOs.


He is also a fellow of LUMS McGill SEDC (Social Enterprise Development Centre).Under this programme he underwent training as Master Trainer with specialization in People and Organization. He has also completed his training for MBA degree from IBA Karachi.
