Profile Details

Mr. Ali is currently working as Information Commissioner in the Punjab Information Commission, which has been established to enforce the Punjab Transparency and Right to Information Act 2013. Previously, he has worked as Chief of Party (COP) of USAID's Citizens Voice Project and as the Executive Director of Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives, (CPDI) – a civil society organization that was established in September 2003. Varying from research, policy advocacy, and management to external relations, his focus remains on transparency and right to information, local governments, peace and tolerance, elections, rule of law, budget tracking and democratic development. 

As a recipient of the DFID- Shared Scholarship Scheme, Mr. Ali completed his M.Phil, with distinction, in Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex, UK in 2003. He also has an M.Phil in International Relations from the Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. He is recipient of Kodikara Award and International Policy Fellowship (IPF).
