Profile Details

Mr. Kiani is a senior development consultant specializing in public health. He has vast experience of working with NGOs, media, federal and provincial governments and international development agencies. He has a master's degree in public health from University of Liverpool, postgraduate diplomas in business and social sector management from University of Victoria, Australia and Lahore University of Management Sciences.

Mr. Kiani has undertaken consultancy and training assignments in Pakistan, Thailand, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Turkey, India and Uganda. He has experience of working with the WHO, DFID, UNDP, CWS, USAID, MSH, PSI, Green star Social Marketing, Universities of Amsterdam, Liverpool, Punjab and Balochistan. He represented Pakistan in the 58th Health Assembly of the WHO in Geneva in 1998.

Mr Kiani’s public policy advocacy successful lead to a number of legislative and policy changes in Pakistan including promulgation of laws regarding consumer protection, prohibition of smoking in public places, protection of young child nutrition, and formulation of national policies for medicines, provision of safe drinking water and sewerage management services. He assisted the Supreme Court of Pakistan as amicus curie in a land mark case related to policy and practice of the pharmaceutical sector in Pakistan.

He has also contributed as teaching faculty in University of Amsterdam’s international courses and Centre for Health Management Sciences, Lahore. He has written extensively in professional journals and media and has the distinction of writing an editorial in the British Medical Journal. He was editor of the most widely circulated public health magazine in Pakistan for seven years. He has also edited the first public health publication in Potohari language.
