Syed Tauqir Hussain SHAH is a civil servant presently working for the Government of Punjab, as Deputy Secretary. His previous assignment was Deputy Secretary to the Chief Minister (who is the Chief Executive of the province of Punjab), in the largest province of Pakistan that has a population of 70 million. He belongs to the fast track cadre of civil service of Pakistan called the District Management Group. Prior to this he worked as Additional Deputy Commissioner in one of the districts in Potowar plateau in northern part of Punjab province and was an Assistant Commissioner in three different sub-districts of Punjab.

In the capacity of field officer as Additional Deputy Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner I performed a variety of duties that included municipal administration, land and revenue administration, criminal administration of justice as a magistrate, flood relief, management of elections, co-ordination between Non-Governmental Organisations and Governmental agencies, supervision of different government departments (i.e. Health, Education, Irrigation, Police, Civil defence),and also headed the environmental offences court.

From 1987-1990 he worked as a medical doctor (MBBS)

and later appeared in competitive civil service examination in 1990. He also holds a masters (MSc) in human resource management (HRM) from University of Manchester in 1998.
