Mr. Haider belongs to the Audit & Accounts cadre of Superior Civil Services of Pakistan. He has worked as Deputy Accountant General in the office of the Account General, and Assistant Auditor General in the Department of the Auditor General of Pakistan. He has been on the editorial board of the Annual Report of the Auditor General of Pakistan in 2000.Since 2004, he has been working as Advisory Technical Assistance consultant, in the Governance Unit at Pakistan Resident Mission, Asian Development Bank, where he advises the lenders on contract management, disbursement and fiduciary arrangements.

Mr. Haider has particular expertise in policy analysis, risks management in public contracting, social auditing and developing M&E mechanisms for transparent financial governance of public sector institutions.

Mr. Haider is a mainstream playwright for the experimental theatre in Pakistan and has scripted stage plays for various national and international theatre festivals.

Mr. Haider has deep interest in issues related to environment, sustainability and development. He has been involved in a number of initiatives undertaken for analysing governance and sustainability issues in civil society organizations. Mr. Haider has been the founder member and first Vice President of Pakistan's leading forum for environmental journalists- 'Green Press'. He has been the Mentor for Pakistani delegation to Global Environmental Youth Convention in Lund, Sweden, 2000.In 2001, he represented LEAD at the 9th session of Commission on Sustainable Development at the UN Headquarters. As a LEAD Associate, He undertook pioneering work on design and implementation of environmental audit within the framework of government auditing in Pakistan.

Mr. Haider has been a film, theatre and music critic contributing to newspapers and magazines of the likes of the Muslim, the Frontier Post, Dawn and Perspective; a scriptwriter and compere for the Pakistan Television Corporation and Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation. As a producer and scriptwriter, Mr. Haider has made series of documentaries for radio and television on themes as diverse as women in development, the universal human rights, consumer issues, and environment. One of his film was selected for a competition hosted by Japanese television in 1999.  Mr. Haider has been twice elected as the member of the Board of Governors of LEAD Pakistan.
