Mr. Sikander undertook his Masters in Anthropology from the University of Peshawar with a focus on rural socio-economic patterns. Currently, Mr. Sikander is a Program Manger with Catholic Relief Service. He started his career with Sungi Development Foundation in 1994. As their Zonal Coordinator from 1994-97, where he was responsible for the planning, implementation and monitoring of Sungi's field and advocacy programs in district Abbottabad. During his time with Sungi he served as the focal point for a British High Commission Project on environment and development in the remote highlands of Circle Bakote. His work was focused upon developing integrated and sustainable natural resource management practices through irrigation, drinking water supply, latrine, and plantation and village infrastructure schemes. Mr. Sikander has participated in numerous institution-building initiatives including a NGOs and development training conducted through the Development Studies Program at the University of New England, Armidale, Australia.
He joined IUCN after Sungi Development Foundation and remained with IUCUN for six years as an Expert credit & Enterprise. He developed financial system for rural communities through which they took initiative for improving their livelihood by utilizing and improving natural resources on sustainable basis. During his stay with IUCN he has been assigned additional responsibilities of training and social component of the project as well.
He also Headed Primary Health Care and Early Child Care Development Program of Community Uplift Program with the partnership of Plan International as a Team leader in Mansehra district more than one year. After that joined Catholic Relief Service as a Program Manager for the reconstruction of earthquake affected area by managing WatSan program. Upon completion of the contract with CRS;  He joined UN Habitat as a Project Coordinator WatSan for AJK and KPK. The main responsibility was to undertake the project titled “Improvement of Water and Sanitation through Gender Mainstreaming in Urban Unsettled Communities.’’ At present Working as General Manager, National Commission for Human Development in Abbottabad. His main responsibility is to guide and manage the literacy/Universal Primary Education team to improve the literacy rate as well as quality of primary education in the district.
