Dr. Abro is a Development specialist and a researcher. He has Ph.D. in Public Policy from the University of Arkansas, USA. Prior to Ph.D. program, he earned master degrees in Sociology from University of Sindh, Pakistan and other from Rural, Regional Development Planning from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. He also has several local and foreign short course training/certificates to his credit.

He has recently finished working with the Oxfam Novib as a manager on a European Commission funded Food Facility project in Pakistan. He has more than 12 years of international development experience; for past five years he has served in a senior position. His professional profile includes:

• Program development and management, and capacity building of partner NGOs in the areas of rural development, livelihoods, food security and sustainable food production;
• Managing grant portfolio ensuring the effective implementation of quality programming and compliance of donors including the CIDA and the EC funded projects;
• Coordination with program units to develop high quality concept notes and proposals;
• Preparation of annual technical and financial reports, and policy briefs;
• Design monitoring & evaluation plans, compiling and communication of research results;
• Coordinate humanitarian, policy and advocacy work to integrate livelihoods, disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation approaches for sustainable development;
• Liaise with multilateral stakeholders (government, NGOs, donors, and private sector).

Dr. Abro’s areas of professional and intellectual interests are: climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction and humanitarian work, food security, agriculture and rural livelihoods, natural resources management and environmental conservation, women’s economic empowerment and poverty alleviation. He is also associated with several research, training, advocacy and policy institutions, NGOs and civil society institutions in Pakistan and abroad.
