National Network on Climate Change (NNCC)

The National Network on Climate Change (NNCC) is a multi-sectoral network consisting of a dozen of scientific and research establishments, civil society organisations, government departments, and others concerned institutions. The network members share information on Climate Change issues and other pertinent areas in which they are engaged in. This gives LEAD a mine of information and the latest trends under Climate Change nationally as well as internationally.

The primary goal of establishing the NNCC is to provide a forum for discussions and information exchange on the cutting-edge scientific, economic, planning and research related to Climate Change. The network aims to raise the level of attention and interaction on Climate Change issues by the involvement of different tiers of stakeholders including the government, civil society organisations, the media, decision makers, field practitioners, researchers, scientists and advocacy communities.


The objectives and scope of NNCC include:

  1. Promote knowledge sharing among scientists, decision-makers and stakeholders;
  2. Exchange/ share lessons learned;
  3. Assess and report on on-going mitigation and adaptation research and practice in the country;
  4. Facilitate research collaborations within and across the country on Climate Change related issues;
  5. Develop a shared research agenda on Climate Change issues with stakeholders;


LEAD Pakistan has reached out to 20 leading and high-profile organisations at the national level to become a part of this network. They include:

  9. World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Lahore
  10. International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), Islamabad
  11. Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), Karachi
  12. COMSTECH, Islamabad
  13. International Waterlogging and Salinity Research Institute (IWASRI), Lahore
  14. Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA)
  15. Pakistan Institute of Environment-Development Action Research (PIEDAR), Islamabad
  16. GC University, Lahore


The National Network on Climate Change (NNCC) is composed of representatives from the Government, NGOs, Academic/ Research institutions, Associations/ Networks representing the civil society, donor agencies, industry and media interested in climate related matters.
